Mamina– As public hearings on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) are set to commence Monday, Zanu PF’s Mashonaland West provincial leadership has concluded its grassroots awareness campaign, with officials reporting overwhelming support for the proposed amendments.
Provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa told reporters, that the party had reached even the most inaccessible areas from Makande to Mamina, and that supporters had demonstrated a clear understanding of the bill during inter-district meetings.
“All questions asked to the supporters were responded to well, and this showed our people have understood what the bill means and why it is important to them,” Mliswa said.
Speaking at a gathering in Mamina, where leaders from the Muzvezve and Mhondoro-Ngezi constituencies met to educate residents on CAB3, Deputy Lands Minister and Muzvezve MP Vangelis Haritatos echoed the sentiment.
“The grassroots themselves are completely aligned with all the CAB3 clauses,” Haritatos said. “It is great for us as a country to be united. This is the spirit behind CAB3. We must unite for the prosperity of Zimbabwe, which is a benefit for all of us.”
Haritatos described the bill as beneficial to all Zimbabweans, claiming it provides “longevity” and aligns the powers of the executive, legislature, and local authorities.
“It was a humbling experience to hear firsthand the people telling us that the amendments we are proposing as parliament are what the majority of Zimbabweans will benefit from,” he added.
Public hearings on the bill are scheduled for Monday through Thursday across the country.
