A Referendum or the Streets: Either Way, CAB3 Must Fall!

A Referendum or the Streets: Either Way, CAB3 Must Fall!

By Tafadzwa Munjanja- Despite the spirited efforts by 42 brave opposition MPs who rejected Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 (CAB3) in Parliament last week, the bill sailed through the House of Assembly, thanks to the adulterous affair between some ‘opposition’ MPs and ZANU PF.

It is a public secret that Parliament, as a site of the struggle, was desecrated a long time ago when ZANU PF puppet Sengezo Tshabangu working in cahoots with his masters withdrew people’s representatives from Parliament via illegal recalls.

Indeed, Parliament has become a crime scene, where decisions to reverse the gains of independence and to desecrate the constitution are authored, endorsed, and stamped.

With the betrayal of Mt Hampden still fresh, it is time for the real opposition to organize and not to agonise.

It is now time for citizens to flood the streets demanding for a referendum or dumping of CAB3 altogether.

The people, as has always been the case in every struggle for democracy, are the final arbiter. The streets are the biggest Parliament.

DRC is a sign!

Confronted with exactly the same problem of a president who wants to extend the term of office beyond the two term limit, the masses in DRC have turned the streets in Kinshasa to their homes.

There is no time for verses or ambiguity when fighting a competitive dictator like Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zvigananda. Only people power epitomised by massive demonstrations in the streets will make a dictator yield to people’s demands.

It’s homeland or death, referendum or abandonment of CAB3 altogether. Either way, CAB3 MUST fall!
