Man on the Run After Shooting Wife, Two Others in Chimanimani

Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a 30-year-old suspect linked to a violent attempted murder case that occurred in Chimanimani on April 18, 2026.


In a statement, police identified the suspect as Francis Makuma Magirayano, who is wanted in connection with the shooting of three people following a domestic dispute. Authorities say the suspect is believed to have recently returned from South Africa and was driving a silver Toyota Fortuner with registration number JV 70 SM GP.


“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Francis Makuma Magirayano (30) who is wanted in connection with a case of attempted murder,” the police said.


According to the report, the suspect allegedly opened fire during a dispute with his wife, Mercyline Mahembe (26), injuring her and two other victims. “The suspect allegedly shot three victims with a firearm following a domestic dispute with his wife,” the statement reads.


Police confirmed that the victims include the suspect’s wife, his sister-in-law, and a shopkeeper at Kopa Business Centre. “The victims include his wife whom he shot multiple times on the cheek, hand and thigh, his sister-in-law whom he shot on the leg and a shopkeeper at a shop at Kopa Business Centre,” police added.


All three victims are currently admitted at a hospital in Chipinge where they are receiving treatment.
Authorities are now calling on members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest. “Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the ZRP National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp on 0712 800 197 or report at any nearest police station,” the police said.


The ZRP has urged members of the public to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue.
