By A Correspondent – Grief has engulfed members of the opposition movement following the tragic death of Tafadzwa Chiyangwa, widely known as Mabara, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
The devastating news was confirmed on Monday by Gift Ostallos Siziba, a former MDC and CCC youth leader, who shared an emotional statement mourning the loss of the young activist.
“Comrades, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of one of our own, a comrade and brother the struggle gifted us.
Tafadzwa Chiyangwa, affectionately known as Mabara, is no more. He was struck by a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene,” Siziba said.
He described Chiyangwa’s death as a profound blow not only to those who knew him personally, but also to the broader struggle he was part of.
“This is a deeply painful loss. We have lost not just a cadre, but a committed young revolutionary who stood firm,” he added.
Siziba extended condolences to the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss, emphasizing unity during the difficult period.
“In this difficult moment, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who walked this path with him. May we find strength in one another, and may his spirit continue with us in the otherwise difficult journey for freedom,” he said.
Reflecting on his personal connection with the late Chiyangwa, Siziba expressed deep sorrow.
“He was family to me,” he said.
Mabara’s death has left a void among his peers, with many remembering him as a dedicated and fearless young activist.
“Rest in power, Comrade Mabara.”
