By A Correspondent – Chief Mapungwana, a traditional leader who also served as a Senator, has died after collapsing during the national Independence Day celebrations held at Maphisa in Matabeleland South on Saturday.
He was initially rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for medical attention following the incident. Despite efforts to stabilise his condition, he passed away at around 2pm.
Born Aneas Mapungwana, the late chief was a respected figure in both traditional leadership and national governance circles.
Details regarding his burial arrangements are yet to be announced.
