Tinotenda Hove- Zanu PF Patriots boasted on Thursday that the ongoing construction of the Mucheke River Bridge in Masvingo demonstrates the ruling party’s commitment to infrastructure development and national progress.

According to the party’s social media post titled “ZANU PF Govt Delivers: Mucheke River Bridge 88% Complete,” the bridge project — a key component of the Harare–Beitbridge Road Rehabilitation Programme — has reached 88% completion.

The post stated that the bridge represents “another milestone by the ZANU PF Government in easing traffic congestion and improving national connectivity.”

The construction is being carried out by Masimba Holdings, one of Zimbabwe’s leading civil engineering firms. The contractor expects to complete the project by November.

A Zanu PF spokesperson said the bridge project is part of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision for modern infrastructure and improved transportation networks across the country.

“This is evidence of Vision 2030 in action. The Second Republic is not about promises but delivery,” the spokesperson said.

The Mucheke River Bridge is expected to ease congestion in Masvingo city by linking major roads and improving access to surrounding suburbs and business centres.

Local residents have expressed mixed reactions, with some commending the progress while others called for more transparency in project funding and timelines.

Once completed, the bridge is anticipated to become a vital transport link in the southern region, supporting economic activities and regional trade.
