Tinotenda Hove -The Freedom Fighters for Change (FFC), an emerging opposition political movement led by Michael Makaza, has called on the Zimbabwean government to urgently address the worsening sewage crisis in Chitungwiza, describing the situation as a “ticking time bomb.”
In a statement released on Wednesday, the movement expressed deep concern over the public health risks posed by the ongoing sewage blockages, which have left raw waste flowing into residential areas.
“To the Government of Zimbabwe, the Chitungwiza sewage blockage crisis is a ticking time bomb! Raw sewage flooding homes is not only a disgrace, but also a serious health hazard. Our citizens deserve better,” read part of the statement.
Makaza said the government must prioritize the well-being of citizens rather than offering excuses. “As leader of Freedom Fighters for Change, we urge you to treat this crisis with the urgency it deserves. Fixing this issue is not a favor, it’s a basic human right. We need action, not excuses,” he stated.
The movement further emphasized that the health and safety of Zimbabweans should come first. “Our citizens’ health and safety should be the top priority. We demand immediate attention to this crisis,” the statement added.
Concluding their message, FFC reaffirmed their commitment to advocacy for better living conditions, signing off with the hashtags **#WeMove for a healthier, safer Zimbabwe. #HealthJustice #FFC.
