Harare – A new political entity, Suthisa ilizwe – Gutsaruzhinji (SI-G), has formally notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) of its establishment, signaling its intent to participate in the country’s future electoral processes.

In a letter addressed to ZEC Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba dated today, the party’s founder and “President & Patriot in Command,” Sybeth Musengezi, submitted the required notification under the Electoral Act. The party, whose name translates from isiNdebele and Shona to “Fix the country – For the masses,” has requested inclusion on ZEC’s official database of political parties to receive invitations and information for elections

The notification letter, seen by this publication outlines the party’s formal request for guidance on compliance procedures and confirms its readiness to submit all required documentation, including its constitution and leadership details. It also establishes its address of service as 410 Sandton Park, Mt. Hampden.
Wrote the party to ZEC:
“We also request to be added on the database for political parties in Zimbabwe so that we receive the necessary timely information and invitations to participate in elections when they arise.
We are prepared to provide all required documentation, including our constitution and leadership details.”
Notably, the letter includes a strict internal validity clause. It states that “only the party constitution and national structure signed and acknowledged by the undersigned [Musengezi] shall be valid,” and that all provincial and grassroots structures must be authorized by the national leadership for any political or electoral activities. This appears to be a pre-emptive move to forestall internal disputes or the formation of splinter groups.
Said the party:
“Please note that, for avoidance of doubt; only the party constitution and national structure signed and acknowedged by the undersigned shall be valid.
All provincial to bottom level structures must be acknowledged and authorized by the respective national structure organs of the party in any political and electoral activities.”
The emergence of SI-G adds a new dimension to Zimbabwe’s political landscape, which has long been dominated by the ruling ZANU-PF and the opposition CCC. Political analysts will be watching closely to see if the new party can gain traction and meet ZEC’s registration requirements, which include submitting a detailed constitution and proof of national structures.
Justice Chigumba and the ZEC have yet to issue a public response to the notification. The Commission typically acknowledges such notifications before commencing a verification and compliance process.
This is a developing story.
Efforts to reach Musengezi for further comment on the party’s ideology and immediate plans was work in progress by the time of publication.
