Sports Correspondent – Zimbabwe Warriors defender Emmanuel Jalai has sealed a transfer to South African Betway Premiership side Durban City, ending his long association with Dynamos and taking the next step in his professional journey.

The 26-year-old right-back departs DeMbare after six seasons in which he grew into a key figure for the Harare-based giants. His spell at Dynamos was marked by dependable performances and maturity on the pitch, qualities that eventually saw him entrusted with the captain’s armband.

Jalai’s leadership was highlighted last season when he skippered Dynamos to Chibuku Super Cup success, cementing his status as one of the club’s standout players in recent years.
The move to South Africa follows his rising stock at international level.

Jalai was part of the Warriors squad that competed at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, an appearance that further boosted his profile beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.

At Durban City, he is expected to bring experience and defensive stability as the club looks to consolidate its position in the league. The team is currently eighth on the standings and is under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Sinethemba Badela.

The transfer opens a fresh chapter for the former Dynamos captain, who will be aiming to establish himself in one of the continent’s toughest domestic competitions while securing regular top-flight football.

Durban City, who rebranded from Maritzburg United two years ago, have been undergoing a rebuilding process focused on long-term stability and competitiveness in the South African Premiership.

For Jalai, the switch represents both a reward for his steady progression and an opportunity to continue pushing for a regular place in the Warriors setup.
