Harare– President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reassigned three Cabinet ministers with immediate effect, moving them to new portfolios in a reshuffle announced Wednesday by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet.

Dr. Jenfan Muswere has been appointed Minister of Skills Audit and Development; Prof. Paul Mavima is now Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities; and Dr. Zhemu Soda takes over as Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.

The changes, enacted under Section 104 Subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, were confirmed in a statement signed by Chief Secretary to the President Dr. Martin Rushwaya.

No reasons for the reassignments were provided in the brief announcement. The affected ministers were not immediately available for comment.

The reshuffle follows a period of sustained economic pressure and public criticism over government communication strategies. Dr. Soda’s appointment places him at the helm of the information ministry as the government faces scrutiny over its handling of media freedoms and public messaging.

Muswere moves from his previous role to lead the newly created skills audit portfolio, which is expected to coordinate workforce development initiatives. Mavima transitions to housing after previously serving in the public service portfolio.

The reassignments take effect immediately.
