Tinotenda Hove- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated his belief that Zimbabwe can overcome its economic challenges through home-grown solutions, even as many citizens continue to grapple with rising living costs and a difficult economic environment.
Addressing mourners during the burial of National Hero Major General (Rtd) Richard Ruwodo on Monday, Mnangagwa said the Second Republic’s knowledge-driven revolution should enable Zimbabwe to develop local solutions that address challenges affecting various sectors of the economy.
“The ongoing knowledge-driven revolution under the Second Republic must empower Zimbabwe to develop home-grown solutions that address gaps across the various sectors of the economy,” Mnangagwa said.
The President also paid tribute to the country’s younger generation, saying they were embracing the values of the liberation struggle and helping shape Zimbabwe’s future.
“We are emboldened by the new crop of young heroes and heroines who are emerging and taking up the mantle to carry forward the ideals of the liberation struggle as we build our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.
Mnangagwa’s remarks come as Zimbabwe continues to face economic headwinds, with critics questioning whether repeated calls for locally driven solutions will deliver tangible improvements to livelihoods and economic growth.
