Masimba Holdings Suspends Construction Work Following Death Of Worker At Site In Masvingo

Tinotenda Hove – Masimba Holdings Limited has suspended construction activities at the Chimusana Bridge Project in Masvingo following the death of a worker at the site.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the construction firm confirmed that the fatal incident occurred on 2 February 2026 at the project’s site offices. According to the company, the accident happened while the employee was carrying out cleaning duties on a spinner truck.
“It is with deep regret that Masimba Holdings Limited confirms that a fatal accident occurred on 2 February 2026, at the site offices of the Chimusana Bridge Project in Masvingo,” the statement reads.
The company said work at the site was halted immediately after the incident to allow investigations by relevant authorities. “Following the accident, immediate steps were taken to suspend works at the site to allow relevant authorities to conduct their investigations, supported by our management,” Masimba Holdings said.
Masimba Holdings also conveyed its sympathies to those affected by the tragedy. “Masimba Holdings Limited extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and community of the deceased,” the statement added.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
