By A Correspondent – Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya, who has been on remand facing four fresh rape charges, has been released on US$3 000 bail following a ruling by the High Court.
The decision was delivered today by Justice Vivian Ndlovu, who imposed strict conditions as part of Magaya’s release.
Under the bail terms, Magaya is required to report to the police twice every week, surrender his passport to the clerk of court, hand over the title deeds to his Mt Pleasant property, and reside at his stated address.
Magaya was arrested on January 26 and first appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate Mrs Fadzai Mthombeni.
The State indicated that the trial is scheduled to begin on February 16 and will run until February 19 on a continuous roll at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecution is being handled by Mr Clemence Chimbari, Ms Tendai Shonhayi and Ms Chipo Muronda, while Magaya is represented by his lawyers, Admire Rubaya and Everson Chatambudza.
