Tinotenda Hove-The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old man linked to the fatal shooting of two officers in Zaka.

In a statement issued on March 2, 2026, police identified the suspect as Daniel Munyanyi, describing him as the key figure in the investigation into the killings.

He was tracked down and taken into custody late in the afternoon while reportedly hiding in the Nyika area of Bikita, in Masvingo Province.

Authorities said the arrest was made with the assistance of local residents, who helped alert and hand over the suspect to law enforcement officers.

Police further revealed that a firearm believed to have been used in the attack was recovered shortly after the arrest. The weapon is now expected to form part of the ongoing investigations into the case.

The double murder had sparked concern within the community, prompting intensified efforts by security forces to locate the suspect. Investigations are continuing.
