Tinotenda Hove- ZANU-PF has retained control of Ward 7 and Ward 12 in the Chikomba West By-elections, though critics argue the outcome highlights weak competition rather than overwhelming public endorsement.
In Ward 7, party candidate Chakwanda secured 925 votes. Ward 12 also went to ZANU-PF, where Mudzimu received 586 votes.
Independent candidates performed poorly in Ward 12, with Chimanikire polling 75 votes, Maya 54, and Madzura just 20.
Party officials described the victories as evidence that development projects are delivering results at grassroots level. However, observers say the fragmented opposition and limited voter excitement played a major role in shaping the results.
Supporters tied the outcome to continued backing of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Vision 2030 agenda, but critics maintain that electoral wins in By-elections do not automatically reflect broader national satisfaction.
While celebrations and slogans followed the announcement, questions remain over voter engagement and whether the By-elections truly reflected strong public momentum.
