Tinotenda Hove – UK-based human rights lawyer and political commentator Brighton Mutebuka has criticized what he described as the “docile” behavior of some opposition Members of Parliament, accusing them of betraying the people they claim to represent.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Mutebuka expressed outrage over the MPs’ failure to stand up against what he called serious violations of Zimbabwe’s Constitution.

He wrote: “All future generations will remember that there were some fake MPs who pretended to rep the opposition mandate in Zim’s Parliament and went on to facilitate one of the greatest assaults on Zim’s Constitution without even batting an eyelid! How are you going to face the people?”

Mutebuka’s remarks come amid growing criticism from activists and analysts who say opposition legislators have failed to effectively challenge the ruling party’s dominance in Parliament and protect democratic principles.
