Tinotenda Hove – Controversial Zanu PF-linked tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo has sparked fresh outrage after boasting about purchasing a brand-new private jet worth millions of dollars while many Zimbabweans continue to battle economic hardship, unemployment and rising costs of living.

In a lengthy social media post on Friday, Chivayo celebrated the acquisition of a luxurious Gulfstream G550 private jet, openly flaunting his wealth in a manner critics say shows complete disregard for the suffering of ordinary citizens.

Chivayo declared:
“My new GULFSTREAM G550 ready for collection and coming home soon to its new owner… A cool 34 MILLION USD WELL SPENT… Ndiyo iya inonzi LIFE OF THE RICH & FAMOUS.”

The businessman went on to brag about the aircraft’s ability to travel long distances without stopping, claiming he could fly directly from Harare to cities such as London, Paris, Milan and Singapore.
“I can travel Harare – London or Paris or Milan or Singapore non stop chinonzi CHIRUNGU,” he wrote.

The extravagant display has already triggered backlash online, with many questioning how politically connected individuals continue to accumulate massive wealth while public services collapse and citizens struggle to afford basic necessities.

Chivayo, who has frequently been accused by critics of benefiting from controversial government-linked deals, appeared unapologetic throughout the post, repeatedly glorifying his riches and status.
“Ndakati INI NDIRI MUKURU HANDI TAURE ZVEKU NYEBA,” he wrote.

He also mixed religious declarations with his celebration of luxury, thanking God and praising Johanne Masowe sect beliefs while presenting the jet purchase as a symbol of divine blessing.

Observers say the timing of the extravagant announcement could further deepen public anger at widening inequality in Zimbabwe, where many families are grappling with poverty, company closures and a deteriorating economy.
