Tinotenda Hove – At least five people have lost their lives after a mine collapsed at Chegutu-Alisha Mine, near Pickstone Mine in Chegutu, on Monday.

Several artisanal miners are reportedly still trapped underground, with rescue teams working tirelessly to reach them.

Chegutu District Development Coordinator, Mr Mark Kadaira, confirmed the incident but was unable to provide further details about the tragedy.

Sources on the scene say that at least five bodies have already been recovered following the collapse of the shaft where the miners were working.
