Archbishop Paul Mwazha, Iconic African Apostolic Church Leader, Dies at 107

Tinotenda Hove – Archbishop Paul Mwazha, the revered leader and founder of the African Apostolic Church, has died at the age of 107. His passing was confirmed on November 20, 2025, marking the end of an era for one of Zimbabwe’s most influential religious figures.

The church’s General Secretary, Bishop Jeshua Mhizha, confirmed the development, saying arrangements and further details will be communicated in due course. “We can confirm that Archbishop Mwazha has passed on. The church will release more information as it becomes available,” Bishop Mhizha said.

Mwazha, affectionately known as Mutumwa, was widely respected for his spiritual leadership, teachings, and the role he played in expanding the African Apostolic Church across Zimbabwe and beyond. His death leaves millions of followers mourning a figure they considered a prophet and father of faith.

As the church and nation prepare for official statements and funeral arrangements, tributes are expected to pour in for a man whose influence spanned generations.
