Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) on Wednesday confirmed that nurses across the country have gone on strike, citing unresolved grievances over working conditions and remuneration.

In an update released during the day, the association said the industrial action had received widespread support, with strong participation reported in central and several provincial hospitals.

“Nurses across the country have largely supported the strike with strong participation in central and some provincial hospitals,” ZINA said.

However, the association noted that turnout was uneven in some areas, attributing this to alleged intimidation.

“Turnout was uneven in a few areas due to reported cases of intimidation, which the association has strongly condemned,” the statement read.

ZINA also dismissed what it described as the Health Ministry’s attempts at dialogue, arguing that the engagements had failed to yield meaningful results.

“They met, but nothing meaningful came out of that dialogue,” the association said.
The strike continues as nurses press for improved salaries and better working conditions.
