Tinotenda Hove- ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa has claimed that Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 will help transform Zimbabwe’s economy, despite offering no concrete evidence during a media briefing in Harare this week to demonstrate how the controversial constitutional changes will deliver economic growth.

Mutsvangwa said this year’s ZANU PF National People’s Conference was witnessing unusually strong participation from members of the business community, presenting their presence as evidence of growing confidence in the ruling party.

He claimed that the business community had also welcomed the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 and was optimistic that the changes would bring political and economic stability.

However, Mutsvangwa did not provide specific examples of businesses, investors or economic indicators demonstrating that the constitutional amendments had already produced the stability and economic benefits being claimed.

The claims come as the constitutional changes continue to attract scrutiny, particularly over their potential impact on Zimbabwe’s political system and governance.

Mutsvangwa nevertheless sought to link the amendment to ZANU PF’s Vision 2030 ambitions, arguing that the changes would create conditions conducive to economic progress.

His comments effectively place the burden of delivering economic transformation on a constitutional process whose practical economic benefits remain to be demonstrated.
