By A Correspondent -President Emmerson Mnangagwa has paid tribute to the late Sekuru Tinos Jesmael Rushwaya, describing him as an accomplished educationist, devoted Christian and respected family patriarch whose life left a lasting mark on those around him.

Sekuru Rushwaya, the father of Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, died on Thursday night at the age of 98 after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.

President Mnangagwa visited the Rushwaya family home in Harare on Friday evening, where he conveyed his condolences to the family following the veteran educator’s death.

The President said Sekuru Rushwaya dedicated much of his life to education, spending decades in the profession and positively influencing generations of learners.
Beyond his career in education, Mnangagwa said the late Rushwaya was a committed Christian who remained actively involved in community development throughout his life.

He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the legacy left behind by Sekuru Rushwaya, particularly his contribution to education, community development and the broader growth of Zimbabwe.

At 98, Sekuru Rushwaya leaves behind a legacy spanning generations, with his family and former students remembering a life defined by service, faith and dedication.
