Tinotenda Hove- Thousands of mourners on Tuesday gathered at The Huruva homestead to bid farewell to Praise Tariro Mukungunugwa, the daughter of Chivi North legislator Godfrey Mukungunugwa.
Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Ruvai Chadzamira attended the funeral as the chief mourner, joining family members, friends and members of the community in mourning the young girl.
The burial brought together legislators from all seven districts of Masvingo Province, alongside senior Government and ZANU PF officials, traditional leaders and other mourners who came to pay their last respects.
Speaking at the funeral, Chadzamira described Praise as a lively and cheerful child whose death had left the family and community devastated.
“She was a bubbly and vibrant child, as her parents have also described her. Her passing is deeply painful, particularly because no parent expects to bury a child at such a tender age,” Chadzamira said.
The minister said parents raise their children with dreams of seeing them mature, achieve their goals and eventually become responsible members of society.
“Parents give birth to children hoping to watch them grow, nurture them and witness them fulfil their dreams. They look forward to the time when their children become adults who can also support and care for them,” he said.
Chadzamira extended his condolences to the Mukungunugwa family, saying the loss had created an immense void that would be difficult to fill.
“Our hearts go out to the Mukungunugwa family during this painful period.
The loss of Praise has left a deep void, and we pray that the family finds strength and comfort during this difficult time,” he said.
Praise Tariro Mukungunugwa died on Saturday morning.
