Tinotenda Hove- President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday addressed the 395th Ordinary Session of the Zanu PF Politburo at the party’s headquarters in Harare, where he spoke about Zimbabwe’s economic direction, the ruling party’s legacy and preparations for upcoming national commemorations.

Speaking to Politburo members, Mnangagwa said the government’s economic policies were beginning to produce positive results, pointing to what he described as stronger economic fundamentals and growing international partnerships.

“Our sound macroeconomic policies and strengthening economic fundamentals are a testament to the progress we are making in implementing our national development agenda,” Mnangagwa said.

He also highlighted Zimbabwe’s engagement with the BRICS grouping, saying the country was seeking alternative sources of long-term financing to support development.
“Our engagement with BRICS underscores our commitment to pursuing long-term financing models and fostering strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic growth and development,” he said.

Mnangagwa urged party leaders to remain focused on implementing Zanu PF’s programmes and to continue supporting the Central Committee in carrying out its responsibilities.

“As we move forward, we must continue to support the Central Committee in the effective execution of its mandate, in line with the Party’s vision and objectives,” he said.

The President opened the meeting by welcoming members to the Politburo session as the country prepares to commemorate Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day.

“I warmly welcome you to the 395th Session of the Politburo as we prepare to commemorate Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day,” Mnangagwa said.

He praised Zanu PF’s liberation history, describing the ruling party as central to Zimbabwe’s political trajectory.

“The rich history of our colossal revolutionary mass Party, ZANU PF, remains unique and unparalleled,” he said.

Mnangagwa added that the party would continue to champion locally driven development strategies.
“As a Party, we continue to shape our own destiny by advancing home-grown development models that are tailored to our national aspirations and drive sustainable socio-economic transformation,” he said.

The Politburo meeting comes at a time of heightened political debate in Zimbabwe, with attention focused on the country’s economic challenges, governance issues and the evolving political landscape.
