Tinotenda Hove – Veteran opposition activist Elliot Pvebve has died, multiple sources confirmed on Sunday, sparking an outpouring of grief from fellow activists and political allies across Zimbabwe.
Citizens activist Gift Ostallos Siziba paid tribute to Pvebve, describing him as a committed figure in the country’s democratic movement.
“Just been informed of the sad passing of Elliot Pfebve, a comrade and a fighter who played a significant role in the formative stages of the democratic movement in Zimbabwe,” Siziba said.
“Sending our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, comrades and all those whose lives he touched. Rest well mfowethu.”
Political activist Promise Mkwananzi also expressed sorrow following the news, praising Pvebve’s dedication and sacrifice throughout his life.
“I’m gutted to learn about the passing of Elliot Pfebve. His life story is one of courage, sacrifice and resilience,” wrote Mkwananzi on Facebook.
“We will forever draw from his unwavering determination to a better and brighter future for all Zimbabweans. Rest in eternal peace Change Champion. You ran your race, we will complete the change.”
Pvebve was widely regarded as one of the long-serving activists within Zimbabwe’s opposition politics and democratic movement. Tributes continued to pour in on social media as colleagues, friends and supporters remembered his contribution to the struggle for political change.
