Tinotenda Hove – President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has removed Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) Director Fulton Mangwanya and appointed Paul Chikawa as the new Director-General with immediate effect.

The development was confirmed in an official statement issued on Friday by the Office of the President and Cabinet.

According to the statement, “In terms of Section 226(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Mr. Paul Chikawa as the Director General, President’s Department.”

The statement further emphasized that “the appointment is with immediate effect.”
It was signed by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, under the Department of Presidential Communications.
