Tinotenda Hove – A City of Masvingo parking marshal, Augustine Rashirai, died after being struck by a vehicle while carrying out his duties in the city centre on Monday.

The fatal accident occurred on 13 July 2026, when Rashirai was hit by a motor vehicle while working as a prepaid parking marshal.

In a statement, Masvingo City Mayor Councillor Aleck Tabe confirmed the tragic incident and expressed condolences to the deceased’s family.

“I regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Augustine Rashirai, one of our Prepaid Parking Marshals,” said Tabe.

“He was knocked by a vehicle whilst on duty in town today, the 13th of July 2026.”
The Mayor said the Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police are currently investigating the matter,” he said.
Tabe extended his sympathies to those affected by the loss.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends,” he said.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Police investigations into the fatal accident are ongoing.
