Kundai Kwenda Opens Up About Trauma, Says Painful Past Drives His Mission to Help Others

By A Correspondent -Kundai Kwenda, the chairperson of the Kwenda Foundation, has spoken candidly about the lasting effects of trauma, revealing how his experiences as a street dweller continue to inspire his commitment to helping vulnerable people.

In a wide-ranging discussion, Kwenda reflected on the hardships he endured while living on the streets, saying those experiences left emotional scars that took years to confront.

“My experiences as a street dweller exposed me to deep trauma that affected many aspects of my life,” Kwenda said.

“Those memories do not simply disappear, but they have strengthened my determination to help others facing similar challenges.”

He said the Kwenda Foundation has become a platform through which he hopes to confront the painful memories of his past while supporting others on their journey to recovery.

“I want the Kwenda Foundation to help people overcome the trauma that once shaped my life,” he said. “My goal is to ensure that those who are struggling today can find healing, guidance and an opportunity to build a better future.”

Kwenda added that his personal journey has inspired him to champion mental health awareness, rehabilitation and community support, saying he believes recovery is possible when people are given compassion, hope and the right opportunities.
