Sports Correspondent -Zimbabwean sprinter Makanakaishe Charamba secured a podium finish after coming third in the men’s 200 metres at the Athletissima Diamond League meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Charamba overcame a slow start and produced a strong finish to claim bronze in a race that saw African athletes dominate the top positions.
Botswana’s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo won the race, while South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile finished second.
The podium finish hands Charamba valuable Diamond League points and boosts his chances of earning a place at next month’s Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium.
The 24-year-old will now seek to build on his impressive Lausanne performance as he continues his campaign to establish himself among the world’s top sprinters.
