Tinotenda Hove – Zanu PF Youth League national deputy commissar Taurai Kandishaya has launched a sharp attack on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisor, Paul Tungwarara, following remarks made at a rally in Nyanga over the weekend.

An angered Kandishaya took to Facebook on Sunday, questioning Tungwarara’s role and conduct within the ruling party at a time when Zanu PF is focused on mobilisation and recruitment.

“After watching yesterday’s Nyanga rally, I had to ask myself, as a commissar, who Paul Tungwarara really is. Does he know we’re in recruitment mode?” wrote Kandishaya. He went on to question Tungwarara’s performance in his official role, adding, “I had to check the last time he brought investors into the country, as per his mandate. Seems like investors lost trust in him, hence this rush to wield some internal power so as to solidify name-dropping in the UAE.”

Kandishaya accused Tungwarara of overstepping his mandate and sowing confusion within the party. “Where is he taking the script to cause confusion and disruption in the party?” he asked. “Was he not appointed Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates only, and Manicaland is not part of the UAE. Is it?”

Referencing his own involvement in party initiatives, Kandishaya said, “Having been personally part of the President Mnangagwa’s and First Lady’s empowerment programs, which are so dignified and unifying, I once again ask myself what he’s up to.”

He further questioned Tungwarara’s claims of having dealt with outspoken critic Blessed Geza, suggesting ulterior motives. “As he claimed to have handled, mastered, and neutralized Blessed Geza, does that mean he was part of Geza, and at his own time told him to stop insulting the President so that he could move around telling people that he’s the one who silenced him as clout farming?” Kandishaya wrote. “This is purely Selous Scout mode of operation, then.”

Kandishaya warned that Tungwarara’s actions were damaging to the party, stating, “As a commissar who interacts with people daily, this middleman’s agenda is no good for the party.”

He concluded by making three recommendations: “I recommend Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology for him ASAP. I propose a repair rally in Nyanga to clear confusion among our loyal party members who voted for us in 2023. It’s time he relinquishes the advisor title so that politicians engage him without feeling like they’re challenging President ED Mnangagwa.”
