Tinotenda Hove- A recent ZANU PF Masvingo Urban leadership meeting, chaired by Masvingo Provincial Political Commissar Brain Munyoro, highlighted ongoing challenges within the party’s grassroots structures despite repeated calls for unity and mobilisation.

The meeting, attended by councillors, provincial leaders, District Coordinating Committee (DCC) members, and ward chairpersons, brought together representatives from Wards 1 to 10 to provide updates on local developments, ongoing programmes, achievements, and the difficulties facing residents.
While party leaders sought to project an image of cohesion, discussions revealed the need to revisit and revive cell structures, raising questions about the effectiveness of existing mobilisation and communication systems at the grassroots level.

Addressing attendees, Munyoro stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and commitment, while acknowledging shortcomings in party structures.

He urged leaders to “revisit and revitalise cell structures” in an effort to improve mobilisation and communication on the ground.

The call to rebuild local structures suggests that some party organs have struggled to maintain effectiveness, despite years of emphasis on grassroots organisation and community engagement.

The meeting concluded with Alderman Sengerayi Manyanga thanking party leadership for its continued support of the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB 3), a proposal that has generated debate and criticism from various quarters.

Despite repeated endorsements of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership and the Vision 2030 agenda, the discussions underscored the challenges confronting both party structures and residents at the local level.
