Wicknell Chivayo: Gen Chiwenga Is My Father

Tinotenda Hove – Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has revealed that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga made use of his fleet of Rolls-Royce vehicles at no cost during his wedding, referring to the former army general as “my father.”

Chiwenga tied the knot with Miniyothabo “Minnie” Baloyi in a lavish white wedding ceremony held on 23 December 2023, an event that drew significant public attention.

In an interview with Capitalk100.4FM on Tuesday, Chivayo said the arrangement came after someone linked to the Vice President’s office contacted him seeking to hire the luxury vehicles. However, he said he declined to charge any fee.

“I said, please tell the Vice President that he is my father. He is the vice president of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Vice President of ZANU-PF. So he’s not going to pay a cent for my cars, and he can have them for as many days as he wants,” Chivayo said.

According to Chivayo, he made six vehicles available for the occasion without hesitation. “Six cars, madam. Come pick up… These are the cars,” he added.

He also rejected widespread social media claims suggesting a fallout between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, arguing that the two leaders remain closely bonded.
“They will share the same cup. They love each other,” Chivayo said. “The internet tries to divide them… But body language should tell.

Even at the airport. Have you seen how he speaks to the VP… They are very close.”
His remarks come at a time when speculation continues to swirl over alleged divisions within ZANU-PF, reportedly intensified by debates surrounding proposed constitutional amendments that could extend Mnangagwa’s tenure in office.
