By A Correspondent – A new political movement positioning itself as an alternative to Zimbabwe’s ruling party has launched a nationwide recruitment drive for constituency candidates.
The New Zimbabwe Democratic Change (NZDC) announced an “open call for Constituency Candidates across Zimbabwe,” framing the initiative as a step toward realizing the country’s post-independence aspirations. The movement’s slogan reads: “A Zimbabwe we all imagined | A Zimbabwe our forefathers fought for.”
In a statement addressed to “Fellow Zimbabwean,” NZDC said its leadership believes “real change begins with YOU standing up for your community.” The party is led by President Bernard Mutemasango, 1st Deputy President Rutendo Banana, and 2nd Deputy President Precious Msika.
Who the Movement Wants
NZDC said it is looking for “honest and committed Zimbabweans” who meet four criteria: they must be registered voters in their constituency, be community-minded leaders aged 21 and above, and have “integrity, vision & passion to serve.”
The party outlined a four-step application process:
- “WhatsApp or call our official numbers below”
- “Complete the candidate application form”
- “Submit your National ID, Proof of Residence & CV”
- “Attend a vetting interview — and join the movement!”
Contact and Next Steps
Prospective candidates are instructed to contact the movement via WhatsApp or call. The numbers provided are +27 698 648 805 for international and South Africa callers, and +263 788 994 335 for Zimbabwe-based applicants.
NZDC said interested individuals should “simply send us a WhatsApp message saying: ‘I want to apply as an NZDC candidate’.”
The statement closed with a call to share the message widely: “Zimbabwe’s next great leader could be in your contact list. Let’s build our nation together.”
The communication was issued under the banner “New Zimbabwe Democratic Change | Official Communication.”
