Tinotenda Hove – Speaking in Harare this week, Finance Minister Hon. Prof. Mthuli Ncube defended the recent 0.5% increase in Value Added Tax (VAT), describing it as a necessary measure to stabilise government finances and enhance revenue collection.
Ncube explained that the adjustment is part of broader fiscal efforts aimed at supporting national development programmes and ensuring the government can meet its obligations. He maintained that the increase, though modest, is vital for strengthening the country’s revenue base in a challenging economic environment.
