Tinotenda Hove – A 20-year-old man, Benjamin Manyangadze, has been rearrested shortly after benefiting from a Presidential Amnesty, following his alleged involvement in a new theft case.

Manyangadze had been released from Marondera Prison on 2 March, where he was serving a sentence for three counts of unlawful entry and theft. However, within days of regaining his freedom, he reportedly broke into a house in Redcliff on 11 March.

During the incident, he is accused of stealing US$1,800 in cash, car keys, and a Peugeot vehicle that was parked at the residence before driving off with the car.

His run came to an end on 16 March when detectives spotted the stolen vehicle along the Chinhoyi–Chegutu road. Police in Murombedzi were alerted and successfully apprehended him at Murombedzi Business Centre.

Authorities recovered the stolen vehicle along with a Tecno cellphone. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at US$9,920, with goods worth approximately US$7,500 recovered.

He appeared in court on 18 March facing charges of unlawful entry and motor vehicle theft, and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
