By A Correspondent – Six people lost their lives in a tragic road accident along the Harare–Bulawayo Highway on Monday afternoon, police have confirmed.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the deadly collision happened around 5:45pm at the 223-kilometre peg close to the Redcliff turn-off.

The crash involved a Honda Fit and a haulage truck. Authorities are yet to release the identities of the victims or specify how many people were travelling in each vehicle at the time of the accident.

Police have also not provided details on the circumstances that led to the collision, with investigations still underway to establish the exact cause of the crash.

The fatal accident comes barely two days after another devastating road tragedy near Hwange claimed the lives of eight members of the Roman Catholic Church.

The church members were reportedly travelling back from overnight prayers at St John’s Makwa Mission when their Toyota Noah crashed into the concrete barriers of the Deka River Bridge before plunging off the structure at about 7am on Saturday.
