Sports Correspondent -Zimbabwe’s senior women’s national football team, the Mighty Warriors, secured a place in the final of the Four Nations Tournament after registering a convincing 3-1 victory over Lesotho in a semi-final encounter played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia, on Saturday.

The Mighty Warriors delivered a spirited performance, dominating key phases of the match and showing their attacking quality as they overcame their Southern African rivals to advance to the tournament’s championship match.

Captain Emmaculate Msipha played a leading role in the triumph, adding her name to the scoresheet alongside Ethel Chinyerere and experienced forward Rutendo Makore.

Their goals ensured Zimbabwe maintained control of the contest and sealed a deserved victory.

The result marked another positive outing for the national side, which displayed confidence and cohesion throughout the match. The team’s ability to convert chances and remain composed under pressure proved decisive against a determined Lesotho side.

Zimbabwe will now face hosts Zambia in Tuesday’s final after the Copper Queens edged Kenya 4-1 on penalties in the other semi-final. The match had ended 1-1 in regulation time before Zambia prevailed in the shootout to book their place in the title decider.
Meanwhile, Kenya and Lesotho will battle for third place earlier on the same day.

The Four Nations Tournament serves as part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers, providing the technical team with an opportunity to assess players and build a competitive squad through international competition.

Buoyed by their impressive win over Lesotho, the Mighty Warriors will head into the final with renewed confidence as they seek to cap a successful campaign by defeating the hosts and lifting the tournament trophy.
