Tinotenda Hove – South African singer Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, widely known as Makhadzi, has been discharged from hospital after sustaining injuries in a car accident on 31 December 2025.

The award-winning musician was involved in a serious crash on the N1 highway while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. She was rushed to a private hospital in Polokwane for treatment and was on her way to headline a New Year’s Eve performance in Gauteng at the time of the accident.

In a Facebook post shared on Monday, 5 January 2026, Makhadzi updated fans on her condition, revealing that doctors have advised her to rest at home for the next 10 weeks, during which she will not be performing.

“To all my lovely khadzinators, my fans. Thank you for the love and support you have been showing me during this difficult time,” she wrote.

“I feel a need to update you about my health at this point because of the love and support you have been showing me, not only in South Africa but also to all my African followers globally.”
Makhadzi confirmed that she has now been released from hospital and will continue her recovery under the care of her family.

“I am now discharged from the hospital so that my family can take care of me until I get back to normal,” she said.

She added that medical advice requires her to take a complete break from performing due to the extent of her injuries.

“From the treatment I have been receiving from my doctor, she advised that, due to all the injuries, I will have to remain at home care for 10 weeks without performing.”
Despite the setback, the singer said she remains grateful and hopeful, viewing the recovery period as a blessing and an opportunity to create new music.

“I won’t be performing, but I will be in the studio doing what He saved me for… and also not forgetting to thank Him for giving me a second chance to breathe. Zwinzhi ridozwiamba ngamurahu (Many things will be said later).”
