Climate Action Coalition of Zimbabwe Calls for Urgent Community Engagement on Climate Change

By A Correspondent – The Climate Action Coalition of Zimbabwe (CACZ) has urged communities across the country to prioritize environmental awareness and actively engage in climate change initiatives, in line with global efforts under the United Nations Climate Change objectives.

In a statement emphasizing the importance of collective action, CACZ stressed that addressing climate change is no longer optional. “Bold climate action not only protects people against climate disasters—such as worsening floods, droughts, wildfires, and storms—but also brings huge benefits: stronger economies, more jobs, better health, and clean, secure energy,” the coalition stated.

The call comes as the world continues to reinforce its commitment to the Paris Agreement, the international framework designed to combat climate change and limit global temperature rise.

At the recent COP30 summit in Brazil, representatives from 194 countries reaffirmed their dedication to accelerating climate action. Delegates resolved to move “further, faster, together” to address the mounting challenges posed by climate change.
CACZ is encouraging local communities, policymakers, and businesses to align national and regional strategies with these global objectives.

The coalition stressed that informed communities are better equipped to implement sustainable practices, mitigate environmental risks, and seize opportunities for economic growth rooted in clean and renewable energy sources.

“Every action counts,” CACZ noted. “By understanding climate change and its impacts, our communities can build resilience, protect vulnerable populations, and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable Zimbabwe.”
