By A Correspondent | The City of Harare has announced the death of Sekuru Mafume, the father of Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume.

The announcement was made in a statement on Saturday.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Sekuru Mafume, father to His Worship the Mayor Cllr Jacob Mafume in Harare today,” the City said.

“We will share details of funeral proceedings as the day progresses,” the City said.

The City said the Deputy Mayor, Councillors, management and staff were mourning with the Mayor and his family.

“The Deputy Mayor Cllr Rosemary Muronda, Councillors, Acting Town Clerk Adv Warren S. Chiwawa, management and staff of the City of Harare extend our deepest condolences to Mayor Mafume and his family for the loss of their beloved father,” the statement read.

“His spirit lives on in the lives he touched so deeply. We are holding the Mayor and his family in our thoughts today and in the days ahead,” the City said.

“May Sekuru Mafume’s Dear Soul Rest In Eternal Peace,” the statement added.

Mourners are gathered at Number 1873 Mount Pleasant Heights.
