Harare- A 16 year-old form four learner has been remanded in custody following a violent attack on a 28-year-old housemaid at Zambezi Flats in Mabelreign, Harare, an incident that was captured on a video which subsequently went viral on social media platforms.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest and the shocking details of the assault, which occurred on October 12, 2025.
According to police investigations, the attack ensued after the housemaid confronted the teenager for allegedly stealing USD 100.00 from her room. The confrontation quickly turned violent.
The suspect is said to have first attacked the victim with an electric shocker. He then escalated the assault by grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing her multiple times in the neck. The ZRP’s statement confirmed that the juvenile was denied bail and remanded in custody as the legal processes continue.
The victim of the brutal attack survived the ordeal. Police confirmed that she is alive and currently recovering from the wounds she sustained during the stabbing.

Reference is made to a video which has gone viral on social media platforms in which a form four leaner is seen being arrested by the Police for attacking a housemaid (28). The ZRP confirms that the incident occurred on 12 October 2025 at Zambezi Flats, Mabelreign, Harare.
Investigations by the police have established that the learner (16) attacked the maid with an electric shocker before stabbing her with a kitchen knife multiple times on the neck after she had confronted him for stealing USD 100.00 from her room.
The suspect has been arrested and referred to court, where he was remanded in custody. The victim is alive and is recovering from the wounds she sustained during the attack.
