Tinotenda Hove – Self-proclaimed prophet Walter Magaya, facing serious charges of rape and fraud, has been granted US$3 000 bail by High Court judge Justice Gibson Mandaza .

Magaya, arrested on November 1, walked out of custody despite the gravity of the allegations against him, fuelling frustration among those who believe powerful figures continue to benefit from a justice system that treats them with kid gloves.

Justice Mandaza ordered Magaya to surrender his passport, report twice weekly to the police, and hand over title deeds as surety — measures critics argue fall far short of reflecting the seriousness of the charges he faces.
