Norton- Three people died while two others are injured and are currently hospitalised after they were struck by a truck while seated by the road side around 1930hours on the Norton–Murombedzi Road. police have confirmed.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred at the 54-kilometre peg along the road in the evening on March 28.

A Tata truck traveling towards Murombedzi reportedly lost control, veering off the road to the left and striking four pedestrians who were seated by the roadside.

Two of the pedestrians died at the scene. A third pedestrian succumbed to injuries after being admitted to Father O’Hea Hospital in Kutama.

The fourth pedestrian and the truck driver are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
