Operation Dudula leader Zandile Dabula has expressed deep concern over growing hostility between South Africans and Zimbabweans after witnessing violent clashes during the Bafana Bafana vs Zimbabwe match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Dabula, who had attended the game shortly after winning a court case filed by the South African Human Rights Commission, said the situation at the stadium was alarming.
“What I saw was painful,” she said. “There was a huge fight between South Africans and Zimbabweans. People refused to sit next to each other. South Africans were pushing Zimbabweans away because they didn’t want to be near them.”
She blamed the tensions on what she described as the “disrespectful attitude” of some Zimbabweans, warning that failure by the government to address the situation could lead to an explosive outcome.
“If the government doesn’t step in, this will fuel the fire — a bomb will explode,” Dabula cautioned.
