Tinotenda Hove – Young Women 4ED has announced the death of one of its members, describing the loss as a painful blow to both the organisation and the ruling Zanu PF party.
In a statement released on Saturday, the group said it was mourning the passing of its Harare Chapter Head of Media, Cde Kudakwashe Mapiye, whom they described as a dedicated cadre and a strong advocate for women’s participation in politics.
“It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we, the Young Women for ED, and the entire ZANU PF party are mourning the untimely passing of our beloved Gender Champion and Head of Media for YW4ED Harare Chapter, Cde Kudakwashe Mapiye,” the organisation said.
They praised Mapiye as “a formidable force, a loyal party cadre, and a true champion for the ideals we hold dear,” adding that his “unwavering dedication to telling the ZANU PF story and his passionate support for the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa were an inspiration to us all.”
The group said Mapiye played a key role in empowering women within political spaces. “As Young Women 4 Economic Development, we particularly remember him as a Gender Champion who genuinely believed in and advocated for women’s voices and our role in the political landscape. His encouragement and belief in our potential will forever be etched in our hearts.”
Young Women 4ED expressed shock at his sudden death, saying his “vibrant spirit, sharp intellect, and commitment have been tragically silenced.”
“We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew and loved him,” the group added.
They ended their message with a tribute: “May his soul rest in eternal peace. Your legacy lives on in our hearts. Lala ngokuthula, Mkanya. Rest in Power, Gallant Son of the Soil.”
