“The blackout at Parliament mirrors the real state of the nation.”

Restore Our Future Zimbabwe (ROFU Zimbabwe) expresses deep concern over the embarrassing power outage that occurred during President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) at Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

For the second time, the Head of State was left momentarily in darkness as the nation watched, symbolically reflecting the dire state of Zimbabwe’s governance, infrastructure, and leadership accountability. The incident—occurring amid growing national debate on constitutionalism—serves as a stark reminder of the need for transparency, competence, and respect for fundamental constitutional principles.

ROFU Zimbabwe believes that this blackout is more than a technical fault; it is a metaphor for a government that has plunged the nation into economic despair, institutional decay, and democratic regression. As the debate on constitutional reforms intensifies, we reiterate the urgent call for all leaders to respect the supreme law of the land and uphold the values of good governance, justice, and accountability.

Zimbabwe’s challenges cannot be solved through rhetoric or denial. True progress will only come when power—both electrical and political—is restored to the people.

ROFU Zimbabwe stands with all citizens demanding a brighter, transparent, and constitutionally grounded future.

Motto: “Restoring Zimbabwe’s Promise.”
