Tinotenda Hove- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has appealed to citizens not to take matters into their own hands amid growing concerns over illegal migration, stressing that authorities are responsible for enforcing the law.

Addressing the nation on Sunday evening, Ramaphosa urged South Africans to respect the rule of law and allow government institutions to address migration-related challenges through established legal channels.

“South Africans must not take the law into their own hands,” Ramaphosa said, emphasizing that migration is a global issue that requires a lawful and coordinated response.

The President noted that both national and international laws provide the framework for managing migration and border control, adding that government remains committed to tackling the issue while safeguarding stability and social cohesion.

He said authorities would continue implementing measures to address illegal migration, while ensuring that all actions are carried out in accordance with the law.

Ramaphosa’s remarks come amid increasing public debate over migration and its impact on communities across South Africa.
