By A Correspondent | The education community in Masvingo is mourning the death of veteran Victoria High School Chemistry teacher and Senior Master Jonah Masaiti, who passed away at his home in Aphiri yesterday.
Masaiti, who joined Victoria High School in 2008, had reportedly been unwell for some time. He had recently been discharged from a private hospital in Masvingo before his passing.
Victoria High School headmaster Lovemore Chabaya described Masaiti’s death as a significant loss to the school.
“It is a great loss to us. Mr Masaiti was one of our senior masters. He joined Vic High in 2008. He will be buried tomorrow at his farm in Zishumbe,” said Chabaya.
According to the school, Masaiti’s body will lie in state at his farm in Zishumbe tonight ahead of his burial, which is scheduled for tomorrow.
Family members, colleagues, former students and friends are gathered at his home in Aphiri to pay their final respects as preparations for the funeral continue.
