Police Nab 50-Year-Old After Gun Incident at Harare Schools Rugby Match

By A Correspondent – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old man in connection with an assault and firearm incident that occurred during a rugby match between Christian Brothers College (CBC) and Eaglesvale College in Harare on June 13, 2026.

In a statement, police said the suspect, identified as Lotshe Yuri Rodgers Mangena, was arrested on charges of assault and pointing a firearm following the incident at Eaglesvale College.

“Reference is made to our message on X platform regarding a firearm incident and Assault case which occurred at Eaglesvale College, Harare on 13/06/2026 during a rugby match between Christian Brothers College (CBC) and Eaglesvale College,” the ZRP said.

Police confirmed that Mangena has since appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court to answer to the charges.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Lotshe Yuri Rodgers Mangena (50) for assault and pointing a firearm. The suspect has since appeared before Harare Magistrate Court,” the statement read.

Authorities also revealed that the firearm allegedly involved in the incident has been confiscated as investigations continue.

“Meanwhile, the ZRP has since seized the firearm from the suspect,” police said.
