Masvingo Residents Cry Over Poor Service Delivery, Water Shortages, and Sewage Leaks

Tinotenda Hove – The residents of Masvingo town are unhappy about the poor service delivery affecting the city.

Reports show that some areas go for days without running tap water, despite Masvingo having two major lakes — Lake Kyle (Mutirikwi) and Tokwe Mukosi.

Councillors elected in the last election are nowhere to be found, and residents are demanding answers from their council representatives.

The only person seen engaging with the community is James Pande, who lost the 2023 ZANU PF primary election. He has been assisting with various community projects aimed at benefiting youths and empowering women, although his rivals claim he is doing it to prepare for the 2028 elections.

“We are suffering, and enough is enough. Those councillors are not representing us anymore. When we call them, they don’t answer. The only person trying to help is James Pande, but it’s not his job. We want the Masvingo Council to fix the water crisis and sewage leakages in parts of Rujeko,” said Mai Chivamba.

Commenting on the matter, prominent Zanu PF activist Isaac Makomichi said : ” Government is working tirelessly to fix all the said challenges”
